West Hollywood bans the sale of fur

Animal rights history as been made! In a historic vote, the city of West Hollywood, CA has approved a ban on the sale of  fur clothing. The members of the board unanimously approved the ordidance that bans the sale of fur, wool and animal hair. Chris DeRose of Last Chance for Animals stated, “You’ve got to start banning cruelty, you’ve got to start banning horrors that are happening to these animals just for the name of vanity or profit.” Although the ban does not include the sale of leather, West Hollywood has a long history of being animal friendly. The city has already banned declawing of cats, as well as it prohibits pet stores from doing business with puppy mills. As the first city in all of the United States to ban the sale of fur, West Hollywood had set the standard for all other cities. Beverly Hills is next!
